The internet is the key to most everything! The internet offers entertainment, research, marketing and business opportunities. Knowing how to navigate the internet and understanding the business world seems to be key skills that may get you hired!  I have been reading up on the top skills that employers look for at Casa Marketing ( About CASA - Top Skills to Get Hired - CASA Curriculum (casamarketing.org) . I am finding a trend on the highly sought skills that date back to 2013. Interestingly enough, I have found Business Intelligence to be a hot skill throughout the years. However, Business Intelligence seemed to turn into Business Analytics. Week 8 - Ascend Your Start-Up

It is important to remember that once you reached the goal of becoming of founder, the journey will never truly end. You need to remember your "why" of going on the journey in the first place. Hopefully along the way you motivated and inspired others. Reflect on the steps you took to achieve your goal. Find celebrations along the journey because you're working so hard and need to be reminded that each step of achievement is worth celebrating! Working hard along the journey is not the only thing you should be focused on. Having meaningful interactions with your team and having fun is key. The journey will be painful but remember the "why" and remember who you are along the way. When you reach your goal, share your success and your journey with others. This will motivate others and inspire others to achieve their "why". Sharing stories gives insight to others about expectations of the journey. It is always important to do research. In guerilla marketing, it is just the same because you need to make sure you are targeting the correct consumers with your marketing. Research on your own by asking your consumers the questions you want the answers to. By listening to your customers, you can gain insight and the information is free!  You can also pay for research, but your investment must be worth the return. During your research to learn more about your consumers. The more you know the better. Peruse through the internet or visit your local library.  Find the best search engines and the best books on money making. Also preparing a questionnaire for your consumers that asks key questions and learn who may be your competition. Utilizing the internet to the best of its ability is another good way to tap into information. Locate websites of your competitors and look them over.  Join chat rooms with like-minded consumers to learn about their likes and dislikes. Research ...

Week 7 - Artifical Intelligence and the Impact on my Career

With the growth of artificial intelligence and the increased use of technology, many jobs may be at stake. Automation is taking over human roles and eliminating jobs which impacts the lives of many people. I am a Registered Nurse and the work I have done is impactful. Working a hospital unit for many years taking care of patients is hard work and demanding. Although my work is a little different now in a leadership role, I still worry about the impact of AI on nursing.  Like I mentioned in a previous post AI has always been present in the nursing world. For example the growth of automatic blood pressure machines, automated CPR compression machine, medication distribution through a Pyxis or Robot assisted surgery, just to name of few. However, just this year, Moxi the robot (pictured above) was introduced into our facility.  As your journey to founder continues you need to keep in mind why you are doing this climb and "staying special" means to you on y our journey. Staying focused on Cultural Collaboration as a way to bring people together is important. The culture of the company can assist in growth and employee satisfaction which in turn makes customers happy. Promote employees to work together and help one another. Another focus on the journey is to have your technology be meaningful to people. Technology needs to be able to support the needs of people. Evaluating the technology and how it serves your team and customers is essential to make sure the technology serving those. Technology can assist in success and helping people reach their purpose. The journey is going to continue to be a world of sacrifice and let downs but you need to overcome them. The artificial intelligence community is growing. There are some key people in AI that I found interesting and I just want to share a few with you. These people have made contributions to the AI industry that is worth a mention and stood out to me during my readings this week. My contributions to the AI industry will never compare to the many great minds involved in the community. Geoffrey Hinton - Works for University of Toronto and Google. Jeffrey has created algorithms that mimic the human brain and how it works. His interest in  how the brain works is how he became interested in artificial intelligence.  Fei Fei Li - Works for Stanford and Google. Fei Fei Li has a specialty of "computer vision" which helps visual applications such as self-driving cars. She is the also the Director of the Stanford Artificial Lab and Vision Lab.     These are some of the many that are a part of the artificial intelligence community. Week 7 - Guerrilla Marketing

We all want to save money, don't we? When focusing on guerrilla marketing you need to spend money to make money, but you also want to save along the way. Some tips to save money: Don't abandon your current ad campaigns. Let them work for you. It will cost more money to redo it. Barter. Trade services for advertising space or time. Gain access to cooperative advertising funds. You could be paid cash mentioning another companies name or similar. Look into per inquiry advertising. Pay for marketing when you sell your product and give the advertising platform a cut of the sale. Keep in mind, there are ways to save money on marketing without sacrificing all of your money.  You need to find method that works for you. Save money don't waste money. Keeping track of marketing ads and analyze the data to let you know whether a certain marketing effort is working, is important. One method to track results is the key code method. Week 6 - Google Ad Woes

I am so frustrated with Google Ads. I just have to take a moment to share my frustrations. Weeks ago, at the beginning of my 8 week class I created a Google Ad account and all went well. I entered my ad information and added my credit card information to run the ad.  When it came time to activate my ad, several weeks later, Google informed me that my account had been suspended due to suspicious payment activity. Keep in mind, no charges had been made yet because the ad was not active. What does that even mean?? I reached out via phone number to Google Ads and received an automated message that if my account was suspended I needed to file an appeal, which is completed through your Google Ad account.  I did this on May 21st.  When you file an appeal, it tells you that you will get a response within 5 business days.  Today is June 10th and my account is still suspended and my appeal is still not reviewed.  I attempted to reach out to Google Ads again and still coul...

So far, we have discussed the adapting and adopting of artificial intelligence.  Today we will talk about becoming adept in artificial intelligence. To be adept in artificial intelligence is to become involved. Getting involved can look different for everyone, such as learning coding or learning how to work with data.  There are several ways to learn how to become involved. Many platforms can assist with this.  For example, recently in my Marketing & Branding class I created a website.  Nothing fancy or special but I learned the basics.  Using,  Google Sites  to create my website was so easy to navigate and utilize.  Selecting the right marketing methods right for your business is important. There are many modes of marketing that includes newspapers, magazines, TV, billboards, online marketing and mail (includes email) - there are so many options! When I think of the best mode of advertising I would imagine I need to think of my audience. May my audience read more, watch TV, listen to the radio?  There are also specialty advertising such as pens, t-shirts, and calendars. Attending trade shows or fairs as a vendor can stimulate new customers. Also becoming involved with public relations and getting involved in your community. The more exposure the better! Week 6 - Ascend Your Start-Up

Continuing the journey to be a founder you must have traits that set you apart from the rest.  Those traits are accountability and alignment. Accountability to take ownership of ideas and alignment to strategies and execution. At this time in the journey you must take time to look at your strategy. Focusing on strategy and company strengths is priority at this point. Using your strength will be your "superpower". Think about what you want to accomplish and work on it using that superpower. Doing this will build engagement with your customers and partners. Reaching this milestone in your journey is empowering. You have more customers and more employees on your team. It is time to empower your team and continue success through repeatable processes and results. This is a time for personal growth because this is the first time you will be experiencing this process but keep your strategy in mind.
